This Week in Jokes May 10 2008

Jokes can say a lot about a society besides what it finds funny. It can say what it takes for granted. It can say what is not sacred. They can talk about current issues. Like below. More than a decade after Paula Jones etc . Bill Clinton skirt chasing is still fair game for comedians. As well as the US staying in Iraq and the daily rising price of gas. I transcribed the jokes below from ABC's This Week which I listen to on my Ipod weekly. Just dawned on me this morning I can milk this stuff for blog entries.

Ed

"Hillary Clinton barely won my home state of Indiana and she lost in the state of North Carolina but here's the good news: she has a substantial lead in the state of Denial."

- David Letterman

"Jenna Bush is getting this married this weekend. Congratulations Jenna!! But, she did not sign a prenup (agreement) .

Apparently the (Bush) family does not believe in exit strategies"- Craig Ferguson

"This Sunday's Mothers Day. If you have not gotten your mom a gift yet . You can't go wrong with a gallon of gasoline. "

Jay Leno

Former President Clinton gave a campaign speech for Hillary while standing on the back of a pickup truck. Like all speeches Bill Clinton gives on the back of a pickup truck it began " You have Beautiful Eyes. "

Conan O'Brien
