I am really convinced Noynoy Aquino is gay. What comes next is me just reading the tea leaves. But the tea leaves for me point in that direction. Why else can he not have a relationship with a woman that lasts more than two minutes. The parade of women in the front pages of our papers are just there for photo opportunities and as decoys. Red Herrings as I said before. I told somebody over the weekend, your answer to a question is not as important as how you defend your answer. Somebody can differ in opinion but they can come to that opinion with a process that will make sense if they have some framework or past experience that impacted them in a way.

Rock Hudson, Richard Chamberlain and Cole Porter at the peak of their careers all lived private lives contrary to their crafted public image. Are you totally 100% sure the same thing is not happening with President Noynoy Aquino?

I am not alone in the speculation. Additional video here. Just my opinion but why stage all these dates that the press will see and then beg for privacy. It does not make sense. Unless you are a matador and you want the bull to believe that your torso is one place when it's really somewhere else.

Malacanang is kind of like the Wizard of Oz. One previous president wanted you to believe he had a brain. Another wanted you to believe she had a heart and still another wanted you to believe he had a soul. Noynoy wants you to believe females arouse him and not males by bombarding you with pics and gossip about him and a plethora of women. As of this writing there is a story about the President's latest baby doll but no names. What is funny is that someone under the employ of the president did not want the media probing for pictures or even a name but used the line "give the romance time to blossom." Which clinches the fact that this is prepackaged B.S. It's their way of saying that now that we got your attention, this is what we want you to know.

Last weekend I spent most of my day in a local mall. My activity involved standing in one place doing the same thing over and over. When you are in that position you can't help but people watch. I saw two separate groups of about 5 high school aged boys. All overtly effeminate. It may not be my choice to act that way or project what they project. But in a way those guys were free. They could care less what I think. In their own way they were courageous.

Now take Noynoy. Going out of his way to massage his PR that he is this man about town dating a bevy of girls. What if I am right that this is just choreographed deception? Then Noynoy is the exact opposite of those boys doing their Priscilla Queen of The Desert routine. He is not free but trapped. He is not courageous but cowardly.

Besides any individual who can buy a Porsche in this economy can buy off what passes for a press in this country. I have nothing against gay people but I do enjoy good gay jokes. I explain myself better here. What I do hate is gay people pretending to be something they are not in order to exploit people. It's one thing to be John Amaechi who hid his true self because it would be an extreme distraction while he was an NBA player. It's different because his job involves playing a sport well. Not winning over the public trust. Trust is a two way street. I don't trust Noynoy and I don't trust the media that coddle him.


Noynoy ever since was surrounded by his sisters and his mother and yayas. His dad well you know how often he was not in the household. Noynoy has always looked at women to provide his own identity. You saw that in the campaign. Always associating with his mom and his sister and never with a living or recently living male.I am no psychology expert but that female dominated environment had to take it's toll on the guy. If I am right in my premise here that means this country voted for someone who was so in denial over his own sexuality then the Philippines is no better than American Idol when Clay Aiken was a finalist. The problem is you have someone who is constitutionally ingrained in political decision making for the whole country yet he has to deceive you in a matter like that.

Rumor has it that in the next Miss Gay Philippines pageant they are already rehearsing a song called "What if Noy Was One of Us".


Speaking of politicians running under false pretenses I can not help but bring up the Sperminator himself Arnold Schwarzenegger . He ran for Governor despite having a child out of his marriage. Now we know why he is a Republican in favor of abortion. I bring Arny up because we found out this week the guy ran for governor despite having that love child around as an election liability. Who knows what forces in play kept that a secret all this time? Simple as that. Malacanang wants you to see Noynoy with a woman. In the concerted effort to make you believe that he is interested in having a romantic relationship with them. But remember this is politics. 95% of politics is deception. Sleight of hand. Every move is planned to mystify you. Our voters are so shallow I bet you anything if Noynoy was outed before the election in 2010, 98% of the people that ended up voting for him would not. If my theory is right what does that tell you ? That the Filipino could care less about leadership or brains or achievement but more about family ties and sexual orientation. I don't mind having a gay president as long as they are also a good president.

Deception. Politicians since the beginning of time have been deceitful and manipulators. They rarely are who they claim to be. Yet during campaign time when one says they have honesty and integrity , there will always be a flock of sheep willing to eat it hook line and sinker.And you wonder why I don't buy this PR campaign that Noynoy is straight?


You can laugh at my theory all you want. But ask yourselves this. Why are we being oversold on every single date he goes on? Does he look or act like a guy who would be appealing to the women you see in the papers? Why do these women have a very short shelf life? What kind of woman would respect a man who used the mama's boy strategy to get himself elected? Being married or unmarried really means nothing in the overall equation. How many marriages are broken up over one party leaving it to be with someone of the same gender?

In the 70s Rico J. Puno was a superstar singer. I can't remember if I read it in the newspaper at the time or what but for a while his girlfriend was kept secret so as not to hurt sales. Hurt sales? Girlfriend or not is he not the same singer? That is how shallow the market is. Sales were not about his singing but about the perception of availability. Part of my naivete died that day. What does that tell you? It's not about intrinsic value, its' about perceived value. The customer is fickle. They buy emotionally and try to defend logically. I believe Noynoy is gay because in an environment known for falsehood, lying and deception I am being told over and over again he is a red blooded man interested in women. I am force fed snapshots of him and some girl. Then next week it will be someone different. Lather, rinse repeat.

The world is full of guys who hid their sexual orientation because the truth might hinder their career. In a world where Richard Chamberlain hides the fact he is gay then anybody else can be too. Much less a 50 year old who campaigns with the cry "Mama!!!". If the President wants my respect for the very first time all he has to do is come out of the closet while he is in office. I much rather our president be gay than dumb. Unfortunately he might be both.

I believe Noynoy is gay. I also believe that he is extremely under qualified for his current position. I believe he can not lead his way out of a paper bag nor do I believe he can lead a whore to bed. I have supported all the other beliefs in the past. I believe he is gay because his handlers, spin doctors and image crafters are trying too hard to make us believe otherwise. "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." is the quote from Hamlet. You have heard of the expression bite the hand that feeds you. You have also heard the expression double edged sword or it cuts both ways. Dang this guy is a moron. President Noynoy Aquino in his never ending display of naivete wants advertisers to boycott sensationalist media. First of all, I have lived here 11 years and I have news for the President. Any media that services the masses here are all sensationalist media. You would know that reading this blog.


You all know I am pro business but I am also pro truth. In this country those ideals often conflict with each other. The job of PDI, Philippine Star , ABS CBN is not to tell the truth but to sell space and time to advertisers. Maybe the world has changed.







Well respected American writer George F. Will mainly writes about the goings on in Washington. His second area of expertise happens to be baseball. Granted he comes at it from a purist or traditionalist approach. His comment in response to the trend twenty years ago of baseball venues also having arcades and in between inning entertainment. "Isn't baseball enough"? So to transpose that sentiment to our current topic, isn't the truth enough in news media? Apparently in this market truth is only there if it will help sell the story.







Sorry, but during Noynoy's rise to the highest elected office in the land the mainstream sensationalist press was a downright cheerleader. Which is very different from delivering the truth to you.







In a perfect world the head of state would fill available positions with the people who have accomplished something. News makers instead of people who write opinions about the news makers. Noynoy hired Ricky Carandang and Manuel Quezon III both of the uber yellow ABS CBN. The Holy Week preceding the 2010 Presidential Election ABS CBN conveniently broke the local tradition of religious programming during that time and showed movies of Noynoy's parents triumphs.



Noynoy thought he was using the media. He is too dim to know the media was using him. I have said this on the record before. All the media did was make a guy who did nothing look like he deserved the top office in the land. Shame on the media for hoodwinking us. Shame on us for falling for it. Ed

MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III on Thursday took a swipe at media outlets who promote sensationalism over truth.

During the oath taking of AdBoard officers and directors in Malacañang, Aquino told advertisers that those who support media outlets that promote sensationalism "undoubtedly contribute to the problems we are facing and that's where we have to look beyond the confines of our needs to promote our products."

“We are working overtime to shed daylight on the country, and you can help by encouraging media to police its own ranks, and to provide clarity to issues. Needless to say, the marketing communications sector can help promote a trustworthy, transparent relationship between the government, and the Filipino people,” he said. "Unfortunately, in our country, sometimes sensationalism is a lot better than spreading the truth. Sometimes, the truth seems to have been a forgotten concept by some of our media practitioners,” he added.

"Those of us who would support them in their endeavors undoubtedly contribute to the problems that we face; and that's where we have to look beyond the confines of our needs to promote our products and be the responsible Filipino that we all can be. The future is ours to make today. Let us make the right decisions to have the right future," Aquino said.

I was reading this article that suggests our pathetic excuse for broadcast journalists compromised the safety of those hostages on the 23rd of August 2010. All of you reading this know the concept of KSP. In fact the President's sister is a prime example. After reading this, it is clear to me KSP is the root of all the evil that stinks from this episode. First of all Mendoza like TROLLianes and Panfilo Villaruel before him wanted attention to his cause so bad that he felt justified threatening innocent civilian life. What those guys ultimately did was exploit a media that itself is dying for attention. Once again the media forgets that they are there to get the story and not be the story. The problem with our sponsors ( who in turn feed the media with money) is they care more about the size of the audience than the quality of the audience. Number of eyeballs are infinitely more important than number of brain cells in this equation.

You don't have to know me well to know I am an NFL fan. Twenty years ago there were all sorts of fans who would trespass directly into the field of play well before the game was officially over. You could see them if you were watching the game and sometimes even during the highlights. Morgana the Kissing Bandit was one of the more famous ones or twos. One day, sports media got wise and decided to turn the cameras away from the field every time a fan decided they wanted to cross the line from being a spectator to being spectated upon. The media realized by showing these morons on their telecasts they were part of the problem. So by not giving these guys "pansin" or attention it was the equivalent of depriving a fire of oxygen.

If you understood what I just said , please explain it to the ambulance chasers we have that masquerade as journalists. Getting noticed is more important than saving lives or performing duties expected of journalists. Getting ratings (one upmanship) it seems really blinds one to lives that hang in the palm of an armed lunatic.

So now that I explained this vicious circle where attention hungry armed hostage taker exploits attention hungry mass media and vice-versa comes the moral of my story. "Don't Stress Someone You Are Exploiting To Begin With " . It's Murphy's Law. The guy is stressed as it and by manipulating the situation to benefit your network and yourself, there are other factors compromised. Factors like safety. It's exactly what happens in the video below. Well worth two minutes of your time.

Ratings war may have doomed negotiations

MANILA, Philippines—A raging ratings war among broadcast networks may have doomed negotiations and turned an 11-hourlong hostage drama into a bloodbath, a radio-TV reporter who was on the phone to the gunman during the critical hours told a fact-finding panel Wednesday.

Erwin Tulfo told the committee headed by Justice Secretary Leila de Lima that the blow-by-blow coverage of the standoff was driven by the media tendency to “out scoop” each other.

“The problem is, we are all chasing ratings, exclusivity. My colleagues may not admit it, but that was the main thing, getting an exclusive report,” he said.

Eight Hong Kong tourists were killed during the Aug. 23 fiasco in which the abductor, dismissed Senior Insp. Rolando Mendoza, 55, was also gunned down.

Tulfo said the ratings game was essential for media companies—be it newspaper, radio or TV—in luring advertisers as commercials and advertisements were their major sources of earnings.

Tulfo, an anchor at Radyo Mo Network (RMN) and chief correspondent of TV5, was summoned as a resource person at the marathon hearings as he was able to talk with Mendoza during the critical tense moments.

Roan Libarios, a panel member, asked Tulfo if the bloodbath could have been prevented had the police acceded to Mendoza’s demand to release his brother, SPO2 Gregorio Mendoza, who was arrested for allegedly conspiring with him.

“Yes, I think so,” Tulfo replied, adding that Mendoza became enraged when he saw his brother’s arrest on the TV monitor inside the bus.

Ethics and rules

At that point, negotiations had bogged down after Mendoza brushed off as “trash” a letter from the Office of the Ombudsman offering to review extortion and robbery charges that prompted his sacking two years ago.

“Ma’am Teresita Ang See was right when she said that something’s wrong with the media. If she’s talking about the ethics and rules, in the broadcast media, the ratings and exclusivity (matter more),” he said.

Ang See admonished RMN senior reporter and anchor Michael Rogas on Tuesday for his supposed failure to plead for the lives of the hostages.

De Lima remarked that the hostage crisis apparently “became hostage” to the competition among leading broadcast firms.

Earlier, RMN broadcasters told the committee they violated no law. Their counsel, former Sen. Aquilino Pimentel Jr., said that media were being used as a “scapegoat” for the government’s ineptness.

KBP guidelines

Ang See, a Chinese-Filipino anticrime advocate, said that guidelines of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) explicitly forbid media contact with hostage-takers.

“Are you aware of this rule? It’s very clear in your own KBP guideline … I’m really very sorry if this is the state of our media now,” Ang See lamented.

She also questioned the insensitivity of RMN to air the shooting rampage inside the bus which, she said, may have been heard by the children and other relatives of the victims.

Tulfo defended RMN’s decision to air the interview with Mendoza, stressing that they merely wanted to know the conditions of the hostages inside the hijacked bus.

Tulfo, who admitted that he was not a journalism graduate, maintained that they were merely doing their jobs as journalists during the coverage of the incident.

“Are you aware that no profession should be above human lives? Senator Pimentel said that RMN did not violate even the KBP’s own code of conduct. But isn’t calling Mendoza an interference?” Ang See asked.

Intervention

“You did not call it interference or intervention that at that most critical time you tied up the open line of the hostage-taker for almost one hour?”

Tulfo replied: “I don’t think so, ma’am, because I believe there was more than enough lines in that situation.”

“Are you aware that your own guideline said just calling in could tie up the open lines and complicate the negotiations?” she said.

“Yes, ma’am, but I did not stay long on the phone because I also reported live for TV5,” he answered.

Ang See then pointed out that Rogas could have incited Mendoza to shoot the victims when he repeatedly asked him about his plans after his brother was taken by the police.

Arena for propaganda

On Tuesday, Rogas said he asked Mendoza to stay calm and not to hurt the hostages.

“During that interview, the chief negotiator (Supt. Orlando) Yebra was trying to calm down Mendoza. Did it occur to you that he was not heard by the hostage-taker because you were interviewing him?” Ang See stressed.

She then reproached RMN for giving Mendoza “an arena for his propaganda and arena.” She surmised that the live media coverage emboldened Mendoza to carry out his threats to kill the hostages.

Susan Enriquez, GMA-7 anchor and reporter, also testified Wednesday that she was able to talk with Mendoza for at least three minutes, but the conversation was not shown on TV because of the network’s existing policy.

“I don’t recall any police officer telling us what to do and what we should not do,” Enriquez said.

Despite lapses by the media, neither President Benigno Aquino III nor his Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma considered the arrest of reporters in the aftermath of the Aug. 23 hostage crisis.

Coloma told the House appropriations committee that the thought of recommending the arrest of broadcast and print reporters in the bungled hostage drama never crossed his mind.

When asked by Parañaque Rep. Roilo Golez if he would recommend the arrest of reporters as had happened in the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege, Coloma answered no.

“The answer I give is in consonance with the overall policy enunciated by our President when he faced the press after the hostage-taking incident and said that he doesn’t believe in imposing prior restraint,” he said. With a report from TJ Burgonio

Face it when our newspapers are dumb, we are dumb. When we are dumb well you can guess the rest. Once you are through reading this hopefully you will at least see that the last thing our newspapers here are giving us is news but just justification for chest beating. Which is not journalism. For the purpose of this piece I won't even talk about sports journalism because once this is headlines stuff it is no longer sports. It is news.


Read that headline from the Philippine Star that I took a picture of :

"The Greatest Fighter Ever".

The problem with that is a lot of low IQ people will believe that. And why are our country's significant newspapers targeting the low IQ? Because they can.


Sorry, as someone who writes this has to be said. You want to flame me then do it based on my premise "Newspapers here are dumb" and my support for the premise.

Question: What context was the 'greatest' line said in ?Let's start off with the text that went with the headline:

Bob Arum of Top Rank said that Pacquiao was getting better. But the boxing champion countered, “Don’t forget God.”

Arum said Pacquiao was the “greatest fighter that ever lived.”


Manny, Greatest, God, all in the same sentence. Excuse me while I clean the wretch that now occupies my previously pristine floor. I worship God and I do not worship Manny Pacquaio. I do not need to expound on that point anymore than I already have.


Question: Who did Manny fight to earn the tag “greatest fighter that ever lived.”?

Answer: Last two fights:
a) Oscar De La Hoya- a man who has been fighting professionally since 1992. Between 2004 to 2007 he had four fights. Manny was his last big ticket fight and his purse was guaranteed. And he fought like it. He retired recently without fighting another fight.

Two guys who are not exactly in their prime. Sure there are some names on the horizon but this is a watered down talent pool. Many of the great champs from the past were American. But an athlete who might be good in America has many options. The NFL among them. This is a watered down pool with the Americans barely participating. The high rollers will still watch the fight. They just won't step in the ring.

The boxing scene is not what it was in the 60's 70's and 80's . The sport is not as popular as it used to be and that is evident in the ratings and in the popularity of the individual fighters.

I love the NFL , Major League Baseball and the NHL. Boxing is barely on my radar as a sport. Yet I know of boxing's rich history:

There was a time boxing was not eclipsed by Mixed Martial Arts. Boxing had a bigger slice of sporting consciousness. Can you honestly respect an institution that tells you Manny Pacquaio is better than any one of those names let alone all of them?





This is a sample of the wide variety of sports shows that I subscribe to and listen to on a daily basis. The first one to mention the May 2nd fight was the Dan Patrick show on April 30th. The second was ESPN Radio Daily the day before the fight. This fight was not hyped by the main stream sports press. Here it is hyped solely on the reason of nationality. Nobody here follows boxing not involving Manny.

If you do not believe me google these three words "boxing popularity waning".



Question: Who proclaimed Pacquaio "The Greatest Fighter Ever". . ?

Answer: Pacquaio's promoter Bob Arum.

You will get a more unbiased answer from her than Bob Arum.

Here is what should disturb ALL of YOU. For some stupid reason the two most significant newspapers in this country ( http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Philippine_Daily_Inquirer ) believe that his very biased opinion that he is PAID to have is worthy of a headline. Is anyone's opinion of their meal ticket ever objective?? Yet he is given a headline not by one but two bastions of journalism in this country. Chew on that.


Question: By printing the headline "The Greatest Fighter Ever" from a very biased and paid source, are the newspapers adhering to the ethics of journalism?

My Questions to you are , did you get ethical journalism from our newspapers today? In the HEADLINE section? If not now is it possible you were not getting it before?





I am not anti Filipino. But I am anti dumb. Take the emotion out of it and ask yourselves: are the newspapers serving us like they should? I hate that the newspapers and the politicians use one guy's success in the ring to treat us all like idiots. If our newspapers are truly dumb today March 4, 2009. Are we naive to believe they will be smart the other 364 days of the year??
