At Least No Fictional Character Ever Said The Pinoy ain't got no humanity.

satire

–noun
1.     the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc.
2.     a literary composition, in verse or prose, in which human folly and vice are held up to scorn, derision, or ridicule.
3.     a literary genre comprising such compositions.

If you want to see a Filipino excited over something other than a Manny fight. Show them a comedy that mentions or depicts a Filipino. Then all these sensitive people with too much time want to protest their nation's "portrayal"  in a comedy or satire.

Now for all of you that have ever felt persecuted by the Desperate Housewives one liner of the Med School or Chip Tsao ( who I guarantee you have all never heard of before that incident) or the that British Comedy with the pinay maid. Please put yourselves in the shoes of the contemporary German.
Listen to Brad Pitt's speech in the movie. He talks about killing Germans. He says they have no humanity. He talks about being cruel. He talks about disfigured bodies. To one and only one nationality. The Germans. A far cry from a line in a sitcom about a medical school dont cha think? When you compare the Pinay maid to what happens in Inglourious Basterds, at least she has humanity.
But did you read or hear about Germans spending one nano second protesting this? Any boycotts called for Tarantino or Brad Pitt? Did any Filipino watching this movie feel the need to protect the dignity of the German people? Or do they think it's OK to mock other races not just the Pinoy race. Which country Germany or the Philippines has a lot more going on in terms of economic progress? Which country is more literate? Which country has better self esteem? These are just questions I have to ask.

While we are on the topic of cinema and people taking fiction and satire way too seriously let me tell you about a local example. Pinoy on Pinoy crime if you will. Back in 2001 there was a movie called The Red Diaries. Which is a blatant rip off of the Zalman King/ David Duchovny Red Shoe Diaries. I bring this up because think of all the crime dramas you have ever seen in your life. Whether its the Untouchables or Miami Vice or Godfather or the Sopranos. You will always see corrupt cops.
So it surprised me that the Philippine National Police made a big stink about corrupt cops being depicted in the movie Red Diaries. When I was taking up Marketing Management at LSGSB , Professor Perlas brought in the Public Relations Officer for the PNP. I asked him why the organization was so against that depiction in a fictional movie. I can not remember 7 years later his exact words though I can quote this exact phrase "tama na". What he meant by that was that we had enough , please stop it. But corrupt cops exist in real life and in reel life. It is not unique to our culture so what gives them the moral high ground to wish it would not be depicted in movies. They want a cinematic world where all cops live off their salary and keep their marriage vows sacred and do not deal drugs. That kind of film genre is called science fiction.  Remember that the next time you see traffic enforcement stop private cars so that they can be bribed while jeepney drivers who defy the law of gravity can keep on keeping on.
So the next time a bunch of pinoys complain about pinoy portrayal  in some foreign comedy, please remember the following:
a) All pinoys behave with utter dignity and  completely have no flaws so no use portraying them as anything short of that.
b) pinoy humor is completely high brow so please remember that if you decide to put them in your sitcom. They totally understand satire and eschew slapstick.
c) Filipinos do not have an iota of racism in them. They treat every race on the face of the earth as equal brothers. They would appreciate it if you did the same. It is easier to find a jeepney driver named Svend than it is to find a racist Filipino.

d) Finally the Philippines is a feminist utopia. Every single political, social and commercial institution here treats all the women of this land with respect and dignity. This  is specially true in all the tourist trap areas and high end hotels. So the typical Filipino can not comprehend why the BBC show Harry and Paul would portray a pinay maid in such a fashion.

e) If you take bullets a-d seriously and at face value please download the famous words of Charlie Brown in the Multiply version of this post as made popular by
Eric Karabell, Jay Soderberg and Peter Pascarelli

Adolf Hitler: [slamming his hand on a table] Nein nein nein nein nein nein!

Lt. Aldo Raine: My name is Lt. Aldo Raine and I'm putting together a special team, and I need me eight soldiers. Eight Jewish-American soldiers. Now, y'all might've heard rumors about the armada happening soon. Well, we'll be leaving a little earlier. We're gonna be dropped into France, dressed as civilians. And once we're in enemy territory, as a bushwhackin' guerrilla army, we're gonna be doin' one thing and one thing only... killin' Nazis. Now, I don't know about y'all, but I sure as hell didn't come down from the goddamn Smoky Mountains, cross five thousand miles of water, fight my way through half of Sicily and jump out of a fuckin' air-o-plane to teach the Nazis lessons in humanity. Nazi ain't got no humanity. They're the foot soldiers of a Jew-hatin', mass murderin' maniac and they need to be dee-stroyed. That's why any and every every son of a bitch we find wearin' a Nazi uniform, they're gonna die. Now, I'm the direct descendant of the mountain man Jim Bridger. That means I got a little Injun in me. And our battle plan will be that of an Apache resistance. We will be cruel to the Germans, and through our cruelty they will know who we are. And they will find the evidence of our cruelty in the disemboweled, dismembered, and disfigured bodies of their brothers we leave behind us. And the German won't not be able to help themselves but to imagine the cruelty their brothers endured at our hands, and our boot heels, and the edge of our knives. And the German will be sickened by us, and the German will talk about us, and the German will fear us. And when the German closes their eyes at night and they're tortured by their subconscious for the evil they have done, it will be with thoughts of us they are tortured with. Sound good?
The Basterds: YES, SIR!
Lt. Aldo Raine: That's what I like to hear. But I got a word of warning for all you would-be warriors. When you join my command, you take on debit. A debit you owe me personally. Each and every man under my command owes me one hundred Nazi scalps. And I want my scalps. And all y'all will git me one hundred Nazi scalps, taken from the heads of one hundred dead Nazis. Or you will die tryin'.

Lt. Aldo Raine: You probably heard we ain't in the prisoner-takin' business; we in the killin' Nazi business. And cousin, Business is a-boomin'.

Transcript Of My Video Blog

Hello this is your friendly neighborhood Gogs  and this is the first ever gogs Get real midweek update for Oct 10 2012.
I am here before you because it is God's will and what can I tell you?

Since I have 119 days before the Cyberact really kicks in , let me
share some more candid observations with you all.

I was told Tuesday  in my last contribution  that I should not mix
politics with TV shows. Huh ? Not mix them? Where do you think Senators come from?

There is a saying that you can't pick your family but you can pick
your cabinet members. You can certainly pick you covert errand boys as
well. Since it was supposed to be a secret I will respect Noynoy's
privacy even if he won't respect mine with his cyber act that he signed  and just refer to the secret mystery errand boy as Waldo.

I want to thank my fellow GRP writers for recognizng my mantra that KSP root of all evil. Its alleged that Senator Sotto .had something to do with slipping the libel portion in the last minute  All this sleight of hand reminds me of  a Scene from Game
of Thrones. episode Win or Die. Lord Eddard Stark gets the dying King Robert to sign  a document
about succession only to have the evil yet foxy Queen Cersi to tear it up. Making it null and void. I
have no idea who would drive to me the idea that De Lima was foxy . Is
that libel?

Sotto is funnier to me in his "serious" job than he ever was in
slapstick job. Which brings to mind the famous Stonehenge scene from
Spinal Tap where it was not pleasant to be part of the comedy on stage.

Lets look at one of the honorable senators pitfalls that lead to his so called cyber bullying. Somebody convinced Sotto that if they translated a Robert Kennedy
speech to Tagalog this strange do-hickey called Google won't pick it  up. I think that aide forgot to make allowAnce that somebody reading or listening to that speech might actually have a brain.

This week just when you thought Senator Sotto would run out of quotable quites he adds another . He basically said in the vernacular I will do it because Noynoy says so referring once again to the support of the cyberact. Nice to see Noynoy giving
videogames a rest and resorted to more traditional games like Simon
Sez . We know at least Senator Sotto is playing.

A few weeks back
Trillanes , Noynoy and Enrile in the Senate all pointing fingers over the Chinese territorial dispute negotiation.  I am glad that
there is one institution in this country that points more than fingers

President Benigno Aquino was quoted that he will follow through with enforcing the cyberact lest he risk impeachment for derelict  of duty

. So I guess putting undue personal influence on the
legal system, coercing 188 Congressmen to sign an article of impeachment ,
not reading/ comprehending laws that have your signature that end up being controversial
etc.

Oct 9 2012 the Supreme Court voted unanimously to issue a temp rest order on the
Philippine Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Which makes one wonder why it was so hastily put together and should it have been past in the first place. One way this law would have never been signed by Noynoy if someone inserted a provision in the bill banning all Filipnos from playing Call of Duty online on PS3 and Xbox 360 , Noynoy never would have signed it, case closed go back to blogging nothing to see here.

If you recall last month in the Second Integrity Summit  held in Makati , the President told the audience he prefers to pick up the can rather than kick it down the road. So he wont kick a can. But former president Gloria Arroyo though it's ok to kick again and again and again.

Face it Philippines,

garbage in garbage out.

Politicians joke qualifications= joke results not sure how you
expected any differently.

I had no idea the  daang matuwid was supposed to be filled with Jokes.

ONCE again this is Gogs , don't forget the libel portion of the cyber law was made by morons who did moronic things and did not appreciate being called morons as a result .

Before You Figure Out RH Bill Figure Out This

Literally Taken From Today's Headlines . To be fair this is a tabloid but just shows you the depth our literacy goes here. There is no use doing whatever is proposed in the RH bill if things like this are not addressed first. I am sure this contributes to our population growth. Congratulations again to People's Journal Tonight for crack journalism on this fine day Sept 21 2012. Glad they were able to scoop the other news sources as the underdog. I hope the upcoming Cyberact of 2012 does not hamper their news gathering prowess. One last thing. Why was I not invited?

Chihuahua in Greenbelt 2

For those of you sick of my political rants. Little changeup for  you. Tonight was one of those nights where I saw the traffic and decided to roam Greenbelt instead of get in the driver's seat. I was able to do a few things then came the time to decide where to eat. I saw a niece tonight and I told her the beauty of being single is you get to pick where to eat. The bad part is I argue with myself.

Chihuahua just got hold of me with it's tractor beam. I always loved Mexican but dang it, I love hot sauce, hot peppers etc. My stomach may curse me 2-8 hours later but in the words of Styx "whatever the price I'll pay". Chihuahua is a place for me where the food is something you put on the hot sauce. I did not take any pictures because never thought I would blog about it. Anyway order a burrito, taco, nacho bowl and pick your content. Then experiment which sauce will enhance your food. Another plus though I did not avail tonight is they have draft beer. Tonight was at least my third time there if not my fifth. They also have wifi.

This Week's Gospel Discusses The Concept Of Hardcore

Being a priest I can imagine is hard work. Out of everything they do the one part of their job I think I can get into is composing a sermon . Which is what I end up doing in blog anyway except source material is seldom the Gospels. Though it's happened once or twice

Well it's not to well known among my family or most of my friends that I attend a sort of bible study. It's called the School of the Word where we take the Bible dig deeper and appreciate its intricacies even more. This is headed by a religious organization called Verbum Dei.

The last time I attended it was worthwhile as usual. Father Gerson is always well prepared and links several passages together to further stress the theme for that day. What is always enjoyable is wrapping it up with input from the group how the readings spoke to them.

Last week, I had something to say regarding this week's Gospel but we were running short on time and my thoughts on the matter left my IPad. I just came from church where I encountered the reading again (albeit in Spanish) and it occurred to me to refine my thoughts somewhat and if I could not share it at that moment with our group then share it in cyberspace. Besides my blog my rules. No restrictions on time and I can meander anywhere in my depraved thinking.

John 6:60 - On hearing it, many of his disciples said, "This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?" is the first line. The title of the Gospel in my Bible 360 is Many disciples desert Jesus.

To follow the path of Jesus is supposed to be hard. Hate to break it to some of you but the last three years of Jesus life was no picnic. This Gospel story struck me because it's very much like life. Anyone who ever tried out for a team will be familiar with cut down day. The day that the pretenders are separated from the contenders. Life is a weeding out process.

The day of this particular Gospel for me seemed like Jesus' cut down day. Where he picked the final 12 he would go to war with so to speak. The ones who would ultimately establish the Church in his absence. It is truly a daunting task and it's not for just anyone. Jesus was just left with the "hardcore".

There is a thing called the 80/20 rule . Which simply means 80% of a business' revenue comes from 20% of its clients. The 20% are the hardcore.

A slightly older blog I recently wrote was about the Philippines lack of success in the Olympics. To medal in any Olympic event an athlete must compete in a series of events leading up to the Olympics to the point that person is one of the top 3 in the world at whatever event. That takes discipline , attitude and consistency . Along the way there will be a weeding out process. There will be talented people who will fall by the wayside only because some less talented people overcame that gap because of desire and discipline. This process is repeated over and over around the world and converges every four years in the Olympics and only three competitors will get to the podium and one of them will hear the national anthem of their country play at the end of the event.  In other words one has to be hard core to get a medal.

My previous blog entry  spoke not so much about the hardcore but the soft core opportunists. The bandwagon that gets filled up quite rapidly by people whose main value is to be with the in crowd. In a previous blog I spoke about Christ being hailed then condemned by bandwagon mentality all in the space of five days. Bandwagon jumping is for people whose values are so weak and undefined that they just want to be seen with the crowd instead of being seen for what they stand for regardless of crowd size.

Hard core can be defined as not casual or devoted. That is what it's going to take to excel at anything, even as a follower of Christ.   I never paid much attention to this Gospel before much less break it down. Guess I had to be hard core before it spoke to me.

Sorry to Multiply, Blogspot and Livejournal Readers

Sorry guys. You know I preach loyalty and staying true to your roots and not selling out. I have not been blogging in the usual spots lately because I have been accepted by a blog site that stands for what I stand for . I am glad to take psycho blogging to a different and wider audience. I know what you are thinking, "there are others like you?" Well a place where I fit in anyway. The editor told me he prefers my blogs stay exclusive to his site and I have no problem with that. I always refer to all my old online work whenever I reference. Also I doubt everything I will want to write about will fit the scope of Get Real Philippines. I wrote a tribute to Donna Summer when she died I have yet to get around to finalizing it. Please do drop by and add a comment or two. Also read the others there who I am fortunate to be accepted in their little corner of cyber space. Recently my ninth piece got published. You can subscribe to the site via Facebook, Twitter and email.

Thank you for reading me in the usual places and for continuing to read. In the words of Sandra Bernhard "Without you I am nothing".
